You're not at odds with God, are you? If you are at home with the ways of the world, you should reconsider. For example,
when a public official lies about how much he paid his mistress, the lie is reprehensible. We ignore the philandering and
adultery. We snuggle up with the world when we do so.
The Bible says, "Whoever wishes to be a friend of the world, makes himself an enemy of God" (James 4:4). When you indulge
in sins acceptable to the world or approve of those sins, you oppose God. You shun what is right. It might be fun for a time.
However, the veneer of joy soon wears off. Reality sets in with a vengeance. Your heart is heavy. You feel dirty on the inside.
Life seems like a dead end. You need a real answer to the inner burden of guilt upon your heart. You need Jesus Christ. "How
much more will the blood of Christ... cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God" (Hebrews 9:14).
Inner cleansing is possible through faith in Jesus Christ. Ask God for it. Ask God to cleanse your conscience from the
inner burden of guilt. God will put you on a new path. You will have peace with God. "By faith, we have peace with God through
our Lord Jesus Christ" (Romans 5:1).
